Hi friends, Frankie has just been featured in the ‘Singaporean of the Day’ project. He is interviewee number 50; just in time for our SG50 celebrations! Here is a short write-up on this:
Singaporean of the Day is a project created by a group of friends, through conversations with people from all corners of Singapore. We talked to people on the streets, in the malls, at coffee shops, schools, void decks and even trains, to catch a glimpse of their dreams and hopes for this little island we call home. Do connect with them and share their work with your friends. Their team has put in incredible effort to showcase the stories of interesting Singaporeans from all walks of life.
Many thanks to the team behind this project for dropping by our studio for this interview!
Frankie had an interview with 938Live’s Shireen Abdullah recently, where he shared about his latest projects and his thoughts on his work. Though it’s already been aired, you can listen to the interview here:
Frankie and team have just finished their time in Jakarta. They had a great time and even had an (unscheduled) opportunity to perform at the Epicentrum Shopping Mall for the general public and some children from underprivileged homes as well. Indonesian Vice-President Dr. Boediono opened the carnival at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah park last Monday, and the Carnival was held across four main locations: three stages at the National Museum on Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat, one at the Usmar Ismail Theater on Jl. HR Rasuna Said, one stage in the Kauman Pewayangan Theater in Taman Mini and one stage at the National Museum.
Frankie and team will be performing alongside artists like the Sydney Puppet Theatre (Australia), Cengiz Ozek Shadow Theatre (Turkey) and Pohaci Studio Bandung (Indonesia) at the International Puppetry Festival 2013 in Bandung, Indonesia on 12 – 13 September. His performance will be on the 13th (Friday) at 10am at the Padjadjaran University in Bandung. If you’re in the area, do drop by! (Click on the image above to see the schedule of the performances.)
Just to sum things up for the next two weeks: he will be performing in Jakarta at the Wayang World Puppet Carnival on 4 September at 6pm (please click here for the updated Festival calendar), followed by the performance in Bandung on the 13th. There will lots of other performances and artists from all over the world as well. Hope to see some of you there!
This trip is presented with the kind support of the National Arts Council (Singapore), Singapore International Foundation and Lee Foundation Singapore.
