Celebration of ASEAN Traditional Puppetry: Open Performances this Wednesday & Thursday!


Hello friends,

the 5th Meeting of the ASEAN Puppetry Association & Celebration of ASEAN Traditional Puppetry will be held in Singapore this week at the Arts House at the Old Parliament (Chamber Room). Here’s the schedule:

Wednesday, 23 Jan 2013

3pm – 4.30pm     Opening Ceremony with performances by Indonesia and Singapore (Frankie/MAPS – excerpt of ‘Streets of Singapore’)

7pm – 8pm     Performances by Philippines and Myanmar

Thursday, 24 Jan 2013

7pm – 8.30pm     Closing Ceremony with performances by Indonesia and Singapore (Frankie/MAPS – ‘Streets of Singapore’)

       Frankie will be representing Singapore in performance for the Meeting and Celebration, and will be presenting a full performance of ‘Streets of Singapore’ for the closing ceremony. Performances are open to the public and are free for all.

Frankie with Singa and the Kindness Cubbies!

Dear friends,

The Magic of Kindsville

‘The Magic of Kindsville’ is one of Frankie’s latest projects. Developed in collaboration with the Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM), it features Singapore’s national icon, Singa, with four new cubbie friends, Tosh, Sher, Kalle and Tomeo in a magical puppetry performance. Targeted at pre-school and lower-primary children, it’s been travelling to different schools in Singapore for the last six months.

It’s been a privilege to use the medium of puppetry to spread the message of kindness. Many thanks to our young friends who have caught the show, as well as the team at SKM for their help! You can find out more about Singa, the Kindness Cubbies and SKM’s work at kindness.sg.
